Match 31: Gulf Giants vs. Desert Vipers

Desert Vipers 178 for 7 (Hasaranga 31 & 3/36(5%), Curran 29 & 4/31(90%)) beat Gulf Giants 159 all out (Hetmyer 36(8%), Jordan 17 & 3/40(8%)) by 19 runs.

Gulf Giants won the toss and decided to chase in the all-important game. Rohan Mustafa played a breezy cameo of 23 in just 13 balls, but Alex Hales(↓8%) and Colin Munro(↓28%) fell cheaply. Consequently, the Vipers found themselves at 33 for 3 in the 6th over. Then, a 60-run partnership between Wanindu Hasaranga(5%) and Sam Billings steadied the ship.

Both scored 31 runs each, and after them, Sherfane Rutherford and Tom Curran(90%) joined the party. The former scored 37 off 19, while the latter hit 29 in 17. All these cameos powered Gulf Giants to 178 for 7 in their 20 overs.

The Giants started the chase by bringing up 53 runs in the powerplay. The opening stand between Chris Lynn and James Vince was broken on the first delivery after the powerplay. After the first 6 overs, the Gulf Giants lost 4 wickets for just 22 runs in 27 deliveries.

Then, Shimron Hetmyer(8%) brought them back with a crucial knock of 36 runs in 21 balls. However, after his departure at the score of 110, the target always looked out of their reach, and they eventually lost by 19 runs. Tom Curran(90%) got 4, and Wanindu Hasaranga(5%) picked 3 wickets. Now, the Vipers are just one win away from lifting the trophy of the first season of the ILT20 League.
