Match 11: Multan Sultans vs. Karachi Kings
Multan Sultans 196 for 2(Rizwan 110(↑40%), Shan 51(↑21%)) beat Karachi Kings 193 for 5 (Vince 75(↑90%), Imad 46(↑10%)) by 3 runs.
Imad Wasim(↑10%) won the toss and invited Multan Sultans to bat first. The openers started well for Multan as Shan Masood(↑21%) took the aggressive route. He scored a splendid half-century to take Multan past 80 in the 10th over. Shan fell after scoring 51 off 33. Rilee Rossouw(↓1%) then came to join Mohammad Rizwan(↑40%), who was taking his time to settle in.
The left-hander was struggling to find the timing as the right-hander shifted the gears. After bringing his first half-century in 42 deliveries, he brought up the second one in just 18 balls. The wicket-keeper stayed unbeaten at 110 off 64. Rossouw was dismissed for 29(21) as Multan scored 196 for 2 in 20 overs.
It looked like a steep chase for the Kings, but it soon seemed like a cakewalk. James Vince(↑90%) and Matthew Wade took the Sultans’ bowlers to the cleaners by scoring 72 runs in the powerplay. Vince continued his assault and raced off to 75 off just 34 before he was run out. Vince’s wicket allowed Multan to find a way back into the game. Shoaib Malik and Haider Ali played 31 balls to score just 25 runs. That’s where Karachi lost all the momentum.
With 37 required in just 9 balls, it looked like all over for the Kings. But Imad smashed two consecutive sixes to keep the game alive. The last over needed to go for 22 for the chasing team. Abbas Afridi started with a no-ball that went for a six. Then, Ben Cutting whacked a six-one ball later to leave just 6 of 4. At the moment, Multan looked like losing the match, but the next 3 balls brought only a single. Karachi needed 5 off the last ball, but Imad couldn’t get it over the rope. The Sultans won a thriller by just 3 runs.
