Islamabad United vs. Peshawar Zalmi 29th Match

The league stage of season 8 of PSL has come to an end. The fourth and last double-header of this edition was played on Sunday. Peshawar Zalmi defeated Islamabad United, while Karachi Kings toppled Lahore Qalandars. Keep reading to check the match details and market variations.

 

Match 29: Islamabad United vs. Peshawar Zalmi

 

Peshawar Zalmi 179 for 8 (Haris 79(↑59%), Khurram 3/13) beat Islamabad United 166 all out (Faheem 38 & 1/39, Shadab 25 & 2/42(↓18%)) by 13 runs.

 

After failing to defend 240+ on two consecutive occasions in Pindi Stadium, Peshawar were put into batting first once again. The skipper Babar Azam was given rest, and Saim Ayub was dismissed in the opening over. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Mohammad Haris(↑59%) combined for a super partnership of 115 runs in just 58 balls. Haris smashed 79(39) while Rajapaksa got 41(25).

At 116 for 1 after 10 overs, Zalmi were looking set for another massive score. But their progress declined considerably as they lost their next 7 wickets for just 45 runs and consumed 38 balls. Peshawar managed to set Islamabad a target of 180 runs.

In response, the United lost their first 3 wickets for just 32 runs. Colin Munro also went back to the dugout when the score was 65. Match 30: Lahore Qalandars vs. Karachi Kings

 

Karachi Kings 196 for 7 (Akhlaq 51, Imad 45 & 2/26(4%)) beat Lahore Qalandars 110 all out (Talat 25 & 2/24, Rauf 18 & 2/52) by 86 runs.

 

Karachi Kings opted to bat in the final match of the league phase. Haider Ali departed in the first over of the match. Tayyab Tahir and Mohammed Akhlaq stitched a 72-run stand to get things going. But Karachi lost momentum after the former fell and slipped to 117 for 4 from 79 for 1. Tayyab scored 40(23) while Akhlaq made 51(36). Imad Wasim(4%) got the control back with a 31-ball 45, and Ben Cutting thrashed 33 off 14 to help the Kings finish at 196 for 7.

Lahore Qalandars were in early trouble in the chase after losing 3 wickets in the powerplay. Hussain Talat showed some resilience with a 25-run innings, but the chasing team was bowled out for just 110. Karachi Kings won the match by 86 runs to finish their tournament with 6 points.

Kings were under pressure after being reduced to 117 for 4 in 12.4 overs. Then, Imad Wasim(4%) and Ben Cutting powered their way to a 52-run partnership in just 31 balls to regain the momentum.

Mohammed Haris got his price up by 70.6 INR on Sunday. Imad Wasim(4%) and Imran Tahir(↑15%) also got a positive change of 12.8 and 5.7 Indian Rupees, respectively. In contrast, Rashid Khan’s(↓13%) price dropped by 21.9, and Asif Ali’s(↓25%) value declined by 16.2 INR. David Wiese(↓27%) and Alex Hales(↓47%) also had a price drop of 15.8 and 14.4 INR, respectively.
