1st Qualifier: Lahore Qalandars vs. Multan Sultans

 

Multan Sultans 160 for 5 (Pollard 57 & 1/3, Cottrell 3/20) beat Lahore Qalandars 76 all out (Billings 19, Rauf 15 & 3/34) by 84 runs.

 

Multan Sultans got off to a 53-run start after deciding to bat first. The opening partnership took 45 balls, and now the batting team needed to go big. But Rashid Khan(↑17%) and Haris Rauf bowled brilliantly to increase the issues for Multan. After 15 overs, MS were reeling at 97 for 3. Kieron Pollard played an extraordinary knock of 57(34) to take the score to 160 for 5. Tim David(↑30%) stayed unbeaten on 22 off 15 while Haris Rauf picked 3 wickets.

Sheldon Cottrell destroyed Lahore’s batting lineup with a stunning opening spell. He took 3 wickets in his spell, and the Qalandars never recovered from that. They were 4 down for 41, and then they lost 4 more wickets for 9 runs to get reduced to 50 for 8. Haris Rauf then smashed a four and a six before the Qalandars were cleaned up for just 76 runs in 14.3 overs. Usama Mir bagged 2 scalps in the middle overs.

Lahore were bossing the game when Multan were 97 for 3 after 15 overs. Then, the last overs went for 63 to give all the momentum to the Sultans.
