Match 15: Desert Vipers vs MI Emirates

Desert Vipers 170 for 3 (Hales 62 (↑19%), Munro 41(↑17%)) beat MI Emirates 169 for 5 (Pollard 67(↑45%), Pooran 57) by 7 wickets.

Just as all the teams do in UAE, Desert Vipers decided to go for the chase after winning the toss on Tuesday. The decision started to look like a good one as two wickets fell in successive deliveries at the score of 10. Andre Fletcher(9%) and Nicholas Pooran started the rebuilding phase, but the former fell in the 9th over when the score was just 53.

The skipper Kieron Pollard(↑19%) arrived at the crease, and the situation started to change for the Emirates. He and Pooran stayed together till almost the end of the innings and added 116 runs for the 4th wicket. Pooran got out on the second last ball of the innings after scoring 57 runs. Whereas Pollard stayed unbeaten on 67. The Desert Vipers were asked to chase down 170 runs.

Trent Boult(12%) struck in the first over of the chase to remove Rohan Mustafa. Colin Munro(↑17%) walked into bat and transferred all the pressure on the bowling side. His 41 runs came in quick time before he went back to the pavilion in the 8th over. Sam Billings also lost his wicket in the same over to leave the Vipers at 76 for 3.

Alex Hales(↑19%) was playing second fiddle till that point, but now he decided to tee off. Sherfane Rutherford was also in a destructive mood, and both the guys batted MI Emirates out of the match. The 94-run partnership between them took just 52 deliveries. Hales and Rutherford stayed unbeaten on 62 and 56, respectively, as Desert Vipers secured the win with 21 balls left in the innings. With this win, the Vipers returned to the top of the points table.
