Match 29: Dubai Capitals vs. MI Emirates

Dubai Capitals 166 for 3 (Shanaka 58, Raza 56(32%)) beat MI Emirates 164 for 7 (Pooran 43, Zahir 2/32) by 7 wickets.

Just as it has happened almost every time in this league, Dubai Capitals also opted to bowl first in their last league match. MI Emirates didn’t start well, as Andre Fletcher(↓33%) was dismissed for only 9 runs. Mohammed Waseem played another fine innings of 31 runs in 24 balls. The Emirates ended the powerplay at 58 for 3.

The skipper Nicholas Pooran walked into bat at #5 and smashed 43 runs in 31 balls. Dan Mousley played a rather strange innings of 31 runs in 35 deliveries. The innings closed at 164 for 7 as Jake Ball picked 3 wickets. Adam Zampa was excellent yet again, as he bagged 2 scalps for just 24 runs.

The chase started well with a 44-run partnership between Robin Uthappa(7%) and George Munsey. The former was dismissed in the 6th over, while the latter followed him on the 2nd delivery of the 7th over. Zahir Khan was bowling the 7th over and it turned out to be a nightmare for the Capitals.

After dismissing Munsey on the second ball, he sent Robin Uthappa(7%) back to the pavilion two balls later. It brought Sikandar Raza(32%) to the crease, and Zahir almost got him the first ball, just for the slip fielder to spill the opportunity. The final delivery of the over saw a massive LBW appeal against Raza. He wasn’t given out, and the MI Emirates didn’t review. But the replays later showed three reds on the hawkeye.

DCP needed 121 runs in the final 12 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Dasun Shanaka and Sikandar Raza(32%) batted with authority to form a 122-run partnership. The former scored 58 off 36, while the latter contributed 56 off 36. Dubai Capitals cruised to a 7-wicket victory with 11 balls to spare.
