Market Report – UAE International League T20 – Matchday 9, January 21, 2023

Dubai Capitals vs. Sharjah Warriors

Day 9 of the ILT20 League saw the second doubleheader of the tournament. Not just that, it was also the most happening day in the event so far. Eventually, Sharjah Warriors & MI Emirates secured victories, and Dubai Capitals & Abu Dhabi Knight Riders ended up on the losing side.

Let’s see how the top players performed on Saturday and how their prices have changed.

Match 10: Dubai Capitals vs. Sharjah Warriors

Sharjah Warriors 182 for 3 (Kohler-Cadmore 106, Woakes 2/35 (↓-8%)) beat Dubai Capitals 177 for 4 (Root 80, Powell 44 (↓-8%)) by 7 wickets.

Dubai Capitals were invited to bat first by the Sharjah Warriors on the first game of day 9. After losing the first couple of wickets at the score of 15, Joe Root and Dan Lawrence steadied the ship with an 82-run partnership.

After Lawrence’s wicket, Rovman Powell(↓-8%) played a dominating knock of 44 runs. But, the main man in the first innings was Joe Root, who stayed unbeaten on 80. The Capitals finished at 177 for 4, and it looked like a solid first innings total.

But the Sharjah openers came out with all guns blazing, and the score went past 45 in the 4th over. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed for 18, but Tom Kohler-Cadmore kept taking the Dubai bowlers to the cleaners. David Malan(↓-20%) and Moeen Ali(↓-60%) didn’t contribute much, and Joe Denly came in to join Kohler-Cadmore. They stitched a 66-run stand to take their side over the line.

Just one day after Alex Hales scored the first ton in the ILT20 League, Tom Kohler-Cadmore blasted the second hundred in the competition. He scored 106*(47), and it is also the fastest 100 in the DP World T20 League.

Match 11: Abu Dhabi Knight Riders vs. MI Emirates

MI Emirates 176 for 5 (Fletcher 53(↑3%), Zadran 35) beat Abu Dhabi Knight Riders 170 for 7 (de Silva 65), Narine 28 & 1/24 (↑21%)) by 5 wickets.

If the UAR T20 League was lacking one thing, then it must be nail-biting finishes. None of the first 10 matches went till the last over, and we were watching one-sided games. But, the clash between Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and MI Emirates ended the wait.

After deciding to bowl first, the Emirates sent both the openers back to the Pavillion in the 5th over. Then, Dhananjaya de Silva played an amazing knock of 65 runs in 40 deliveries. Sunil Narine(↑21%) scored 28 runs in 18 deliveries to take his side to 170 for 7 in 20 overs.

The Emirates didn’t start the chase well and lost their openers for 27 runs. Andre Fletcher(↑3%) and Nicholas Pooran provided some stability, but both fell in quick succession. When the 4th wicket fell, they needed 72 runs in 40 balls. Kieron Pollard kept the hopes alive, but when he departed after scoring 31, it looked like the MI Emirates may fall short.

He dismissed Pollard on the first ball of the 19th over, and 29 were required of the last 11 deliveries. Najibullah Zadran hit a six in that over to leave 20 off the last over. Andre Russell(↓-30%) was smashed for a six on the first ball of the final over by Dwayne Bravo. The next three balls went for 2, 4, 1, and the equation was reduced to 7 off 2.

Zadran pulled a short ball for a huge six to level the scores. Then, he smashed another maximum to seal the game for his side. After this loss, ADKR are still winless and are yet to get off the mark on the points table.
